Though, Tripura is a small state, but have huge potentiality in tourism sector and the present government has given its maximum efforts to promote the tourism sector of the state, said Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury.

 Inaugurating the ‘Butterfly Festival’ at Heritage Park in Agartala on Sunday, Chowdhury said that the government promoting the tourism industry of the state to its optimum potential.

Recalling the marvelous  beauties of all hot tourist spots like Narikel Kunja, Chhabimura, Unakoti, Neermahal, he stressed upon the need to nurture the spots further to draw both domestic as well as foreign tourists.

Tourism is now being viewed as a potent source of state revenue everywhere and the state still has plenty of uncapped potential, said the minister.

While, during the inauguration of Butterfly festival, organized by the Forest department , Chowdhury along with other dignitaries  releases  different species   of colorful butterflies into their natural habitat. The festival of its own kind was convened for the second time in a row. The Minister pinpointed that just as the tender butterflies despite having a shorter life-span share enduring joy and pleasant dreams among the children, we should also promote peace and prosperity by celebrating every moment of life. “Keeping in view to realize the goal ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, Ek Tripura Shrestha Tripura’ rising above all lines, we need to come forward with a positive and constructive attitude,” said Chowdhury.

 Antara Sarkar the Shabadipati  of West Tripura Zilla Parishad explained the role of butterflies in the conservation of nature. The need of the hour for all is to ensure protection to flora and fauna for a better tomorrow.

K S Sethi Principal Secretary of Forest Department  outlined that the state of Tripura may be smaller in dimension but has  immense biodiversity. It has butterflies of nearly 250 species and the Forest Department has been endeavoring relentlessly to multiply the bread and add a new character to the State Tourism. Dr. Avinas Kanfade PCCF of Forest Department disclosed that with an aim of developing public awareness his department has been organizing festivals with wild life at different venues like ‘Elephant Festival at Amarpur, Bison Festival at Trishna Wild Sanctuary etc. These animals maintain balance in our Ecosystem. The event was attended by R K Shyamal APCCF, Dr. Shashi Kumar CCF, Joykrishnan VK DFO also. A mesmerizing cultural programme was also presented by the local artists.
